African American Actresses Being Featured on TCM in October

Mark your calendars, because during three nights in October, Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will be showing movies of five specially selected African-American actresses as part of their “Trailblazing Women” series.

The series is being done in partnership with the Women in Film (WIF) organization and will air on Tuesday and Thursday evenings throughout the month. A Josephine Baker movie will be shown on the night devoted to actresses who made Wartime Contributions. Movies starring Hattie McDaniel, Dorothy Dandridge and Lena Horne will be shown on the night devoted to actresses who have Broken Barriers. And Cicely Tyson will be featured on the Activism evening.
