∙ "Waiting to Exhale" was directed by African-American actor and director, Forest Whitaker. This movie was the first theatrically-released film that he directed. Forest Whitaker also stars in the movie, Bird, which is a Top 100 Black Classic Movie. Forest Whitaker also became the third African-American man to win a Best Actor Academy Award when he won it in 2007 for his performance in "The Last King of Scotland."
