"Trading Places" stars Eddie Murphy in a hilarious role as Billy Ray Valentine, a very talented street hustler.

When two wealthy brothers (Don Ameche and Ralph Bellamy) decide to bet that someone from the street couldn't possibly make it on Wall Street, they pick Billy Ray Valentine for their test. They set it up so that he trades places with the well-to-do Louis Winthorpe III (Dan Aykroyd).

But Billy Ray's street smarts are more than these Wall Street wizards bargained for and the tables start to turn on them.

∙  Since 1986, "Trading Places" has become a traditional Christmas movie that is shown in Italy around the holiday.

∙  The original movie script was written with Richard Pryor in mind, but when he wasn’t available, Eddie Murphy was asked to do the film.  "Trading Places" turned out to be another hit movie for Eddie Murphy.

∙  The director of Trading Places, John Landis, also directed Coming to America, another Top 100 Black Classic Movie.  The Duke brothers from Trading Places (Don Ameche and Ralph Bellamy) also make a brief appearance in Coming to America.

∙  Won an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Motion Picture.

∙  Nominated for two 1984 Golden Globe Awards:  Best Motion Picture – Comedy/Musical and Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Comedy/Musical (Eddie Murphy)

∙  Nominated for a 1984 Academy Award for Best Music, Original Song Score and Its Adaptation or Best Adaptation Score
