∙  Portions of How Stella Got Her Groove Back were filmed on location in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

∙  Danny Glover was originally in the movie as an older man who tries to get with Stella, but his scenes were deleted during the editing process.  He is seen briefly in a pool scene when Taye Diggs points him out to Angela Bassett as the man who has been hitting on her the entire time.
