Description

"Bingo Long Traveling All Stars and Motor Kings" is a light-hearted comedy starring Billy Dee Williams,
Richard Pryor and James Earl Jones.

"Bingo Long Traveling All Stars" is about a group of Negro League Baseball players who form their own team
and travel throughout the South playing pickup games with other teams. To make ends meet, they are willing
to do anything, even if it means a little stealing.

The "Bingo Long" teams antics and style are so entertaining that lots of people start attending their games,
resulting in fewer people attending the other Negro League Baseball team games. Of course this angers the
owners of the other teams and results in a showdown between the Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars and a team
of All-Stars from the Negro Baseball League.

A funny comedy about a unique era in baseball, "Bingo Long Traveling All Stars and Motor Kings" is a
"breezy good time" movie.

Trivia

•  "Bingo Long Traveling All Stars and Motor Kings" movie is based on the 1973 book by William Brasher entitled,
"The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars and Motor Kings." Brasher bases the book on his interviews with all-time great
Negro League baseball players such as Satchel Paige and Cool Papa Bell.

• The characters in "Bingo Long" are based on real baseball players from the Negro League. Billy Dee Williams' character, Bingo Long, is based on famous Negro League baseball pitcher Satchel Paige. James Earl Jones' character, Leon Carter, is based on catcher and hitter Josh Gibson, who became known in the Negro Baseball League as the Black Babe Ruth.

•  Some of the ballplayers in the movie are actual ballplayers, including former members of the Indianapolis
Clowns baseball team.  The Indianapolis Clowns were a Negro League baseball team that started in Cincinnati
in 1943 and then moved to Indianapolis in 1946.  They eventually became known for their comic antics on the
field. (They are often described as being like a baseball version of the Harlem Globetrotters.)
