Disney's "Ruby Bridges" tells the true story a six year old girl named Ruby Nell Bridges who integrated the
New Orleans public schools in 1960. She had to be escorted everyday by U.S. Marshals. She bravely walked
through a crowd of people yelling mean things to her every morning. But ultimately Ruby Bridges won.
"Ruby Bridges" talks about an important part of American history in a way that children of all ages can relate to and understand. Since it is focused on young Ruby's personal experience, it makes it easier for kids to understand what
it must have felt like to live during this racially-charged time period. It also brings out a sense of pride
and admiration
for Ruby Bridge's strength and courage.
Historically accurate and touching, "Ruby Bridges" is an excellent family film.
