Michael Jackson stars in "Moonwalker" - a montage of Michael Jackson music videos, live
performances and fantasy-themed stories. The centerpiece of this 1988 film is the 25 minute
extended music video "Smooth Criminal."

"Moonwalker" really isn't a movie but rather a compilation of different video segments and storylines
starring Michael Jackson. This film was first released in 1988 during the height of Michael Jackson's musical
career. "Moonwalker" was shown in theatres in Europe and Asia, but went straight to video in the United States.

The centerpiece of "Moonwalker" is the 25 minute "Smooth Criminal" video segment written by Michael Jackson.
"Smooth Criminal" is perhaps one of the best Michael Jackson song and dance performance videos ever made.

"Moonwalker" is divided into six segments showcasing various aspects of Michael Jackson's talent. It opens with
Michael Jackson singing "Man in the Mirror" before a live audience and then moves into a video retrospective of his
early singing career as a member of The Jackson 5. None of the film's segments tie together to make a coherent
storyline, so if you watch it with this in mind, you will not be disappointed. "Moonwalker" ends with another
live Michael Jackson concert performance.

make "Smooth Criminal" a stand-alone video, but it became so big that he decided to do a movie around it. This
resulted in the movie "Moonwalker."

• "Moonwalker" was nominated in 1990 for a Best Music Video Grammy Award.

• "Moonwalker" won the Favorite Music Video award in 1989 from the Video Software Dealers Association.
