"Holiday Heart" stars Ving Rhames, Alfre Woodard and Jesika Reynolds in a sweet story about a drag queen's love for a little girl.

Holiday Heart (Ving Rhames) is a popular drag queen who is still mourning the death of her partner. She befriends a young girl named Niki (Jesika Reynolds) and then becomes involved in trying to help the young girl and her mother. Holiday lets them move into the apartment next door and they soon become an unusual, but special family.

But the mother, Wanda (Alfre Woodard), has a drug problem that she can't seem to overcome and a drug-dealing boyfriend, Silas (Mykelti Williamson), that she can't seem to let go of.

• "Holiday Heart" is based on a play written by Cheryl L. West. The play debuted in Syracuse, New York in 1994 and toured around the country. Cheryl L. West wrote this movie version of the "Holiday Heart".

• African-American director Robert Townsend directed "Holiday Heart." He also directed "The Five Heartbeats" which is a Top 100 Black Classic Movie.

• Alfre Woodard was nominated for three major acting awards for her performance in "Holiday Heart" as Wanda: NAACP Image Award, Golden Globe Award and Black Reel Award.
