| Description |
"The Gods Must Be Crazy" is a South African comedy starring N!xau.
When a coca-cola bottle falls from the sky, the lives of a tribe of bushmen is never the same. Thinking that the
coca-cola bottle must have been dropped from the sky by the gods, the members of the tribe find themselves
arguing incessantly about it.
At first they considered the bottle a blessing, but then they eventually see it as a curse.
Ultimately, they decide that the bottle must go, so they elect Xi to take it to back to the gods. He sets off on
a hilarious journey to find the end of the earth so that he can give the bottle back to the gods.
What results is a series of comedic encounters with people in "civilization" as Xi crosses the country. |

• N!xau, who stars as Xu, in "The Gods Must Be Crazy" was a San from the Kalahari Desert who was discovered
by the director of the movie, Jamie Uys. N!xau starred in both versions of "The Gods Must Be Crazy" which included
this one and the sequel named "The Gods Must Be Crazy II." N!xau did three more movies before passing away in
1981 from tuberculosis.
• "The Gods Must Be Crazy" was filmed on location in South Africa.
• Because "The Gods Must Be Crazy" was a South African movie, it was not released from South Africa because of
the international embargo against the country at the time. Thus, the movie was released from Botswana. |
