Perhaps this is because as a young man growing up in a poor, single parent household, Ben Carson would
have been considered a hopeless case. His mother suffered from depression and worked numerous
jobs to support him and his brother. His father was gone, having left his mother when he was just eight
years old. He wasn't doing well in school and he was easily provoked to anger. There really wasn't much
in his early life that indicated that he had a bright future ahead of him.
But his mother refused to give up on him. And because of this, hundreds of children around the world
have been saved by the gifted hands of Dr. Ben Carson.
