| Brief Biography |
Cab Calloway was a famous singer and bandleader who began his lengthy career in the 1920s. During the thirties, his band, the Cab Calloway Band, was the house act for the famed Harlem Cotton Club.
Cab Calloway popularized “scat” singing which is singing with syllables that don’t make any sense. His most famous scat song is “Minnie the Moocher.”
Cab Calloway appeared in a number of movies including the Top 100 BlackClassicMovies.com Hi-De-Ho and Stormy Weather.
Nicknamed the “Hi-De-Ho” man, Cab Calloway was known for wearing white tuxedos and having wildly flailing hair.
