Richard Pryor was a stand-up comedian and movie actor who became enormously popular during the 1970s.  He was known for his liberal use of profanity and comedic storytelling genius. In 1998 he was awarded the first Mark Twain Prize to celebrate American humor.

Richard Pryor is credited with influencing many of today’s notable African-American comedians.

The movie Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life is Calling is a semi-autobiographical account of Richard Pryor’s life.
