Rex Ingram had a longstanding stage and film career that spanned over 50 years. Known for his powerful voice, Rex Ingram achieved fame for his performance as “De Lawd” in the 1936 movie, The Green Pastures. He became increasingly famous for playing Djinni in the 1940 film, The Thief of Bagdad.
Rex Ingram is credited with helping to enhance the Black male image on stage and screen.
He has starred in three Top 100 BlackClassicMovies.com films: The Green Pastures, Cabin in the Sky and Anna Lucasta. |
